Teston Kite Festival - 10-11 August 2013
This was a glorious weekend, full of sunshine and laughter - a memory to cherish

This was the last time at Teston for Ron - after many years of battling illness bravely and without complaint, this lovely man passed away peacefully on the evening of 2nd February 2014 - his many friends mourn his passing, and will never forget his countless kindnesses.

We feel privileged to have known him and called him our good friend - our hearts go out to his children, and to Tina who cared for him so lovingly and shared his joy of kites over these last several years.

God bless you Ron - we weep to see you go, but rejoice that you are free from pain - we pledge to keep the Teston Kite Festival alive for as long as we are able - this will be a living testament in memory of Ron and Pat, who started it and brought joy to us all.
If you feel moved to support Isabel Hospice where Ron received wonderful care, please visit their main website or FB page - Isabel Hospice Facebook link

Memory is a fickle thing - only just remembered that Pat & Ron used to volunteer to push wheelchairs for HYP Holidays,
run by Dot and Dom Cox, two more lovely people who were counted as part of "The Dells" extended family.
I was privileged to construct a website for HYP, and even though Dot and Dom are no longer running HYP Holidays,
I have an archive of their holiday snaps, which I am placing on line for all to share. Ready? Click HERE

Only now do I discover more of Ron's kindness at work - just received the following from Heather Town (Gerty)

A few years ago Ron handed over the Teston kite making workshop to the KKF when I had recently joined them. About five years ago the KKF adopted the charity Slideaway (A small charity which supports bereaved children) when they were asked to support their yearly kite workshop which assisted children with making kites and flying them in memory of someone they had lost. The charity then became a beneficiary of Teston which Ron fully supported.
KKF still run the kite making workshop each year and will continue to do so.

Despite a cold sharp wind, Ron was determined to be there, and we love him for it
Here he is surrounded by love, with kite folk who are not afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves

A precious past letter from Ron
                        Dear Kite Friends,
2010 was our 23rd year at our little Teston. I would like to thank all the kiters who have supported the event.
Who would have thought that Teston would be still going strong and popular after all this time? More 2008 photos here
If you have not been to Teston, then please come and give us a look - you may like it! (bring swimming/paddling kit)
