A quiet but memorable day spent on the very spot where Gayle & Christian celebrated their love with a pagan Handfasting Ceremony on a joy-filled day back in August 2015 - memories to cherish and recall for the rest of our days - Meanwhile, in Marble Falls, Texas, Christian was surrounded by close friends and loved ones in the beautiful lakeside surroundings of their home by the Colorado River, close by LBJ Lake "Life is what you make of it, all of it, even its end." This photo from the Facebook Album of Jessica Norwood with her kind permission. For Gayle's Pool Party, friends came bearing gifts... Chris brought a lovely loaf of sourdough bread that he made (and an inexhaustible supply of puns), David cooked several FEB's for the early birds, and made bacon butties for the late-comers + biccies & flapjacks (yum) Sandra brought a batch of her yummy Savoury Scones - Recipe Here Linda brought a LOT of water for the pool, Roy brought more water + a Swingball (he thought we needed the exercise), Arthur brought more water, a bucket of bubble mix and a rubber ducky... (entirely innocent, he assured us) Anne brought cherries, grapes & strawberries, and kept us hydrated with lemon & lime drinks Dicky brought the pool, flags & bunting, Lil Genny and a small PA system to play Gayle's Music. Keith brought some beautiful large prints of Paul Morgan's photo from the Handfasting (and enough bread rolls & hot cross buns to feed a small army) 1st set up gazebo & bench - 2nd cook breakfast - 3rd inflate paddling pool - 4th decorate! We conserved energy while waiting for the sun to warm the water in the pool. A keen-eyed observer might have noticed Keith's spiffy make-over of his 2 blue canvas camping chairs... A close examination reveals a hint one of one of Keith's guilty pleasures... Say no more!!! Andrew told us about a beautiful song by Mario Biondi that he had shared with Gayle - HERE There were some attempts to get a kite into the air, but wind was almost non-existant However... the occasional gust made Keith shout when it took him by surprise! And the frequent lulls meant the flying Lone Star flag was in danger of a soaking You know how a watering hole attracts all sort of exotic wildlife... And then there is the "Git Factor" which brings on some very strange behaviour... While some Gits just mucked about in the pool, Roy went off determined to fly his buzzard! Ahem... Sorry, but when bubbles are involved, a chap has to do what a chap has to do! Well done guys - a very few lightweight kites managed to stay up in the light airs for a while... Low wind speed means Arthur managed some super-giant bubbles despite the dry air... Lunchtime... Gits are like Hobbitts in that they need several breakfasts... |
Official Group Photo (should have done it before the sun moved round behind the gazebo - sigh) Large version of same photo HERE Roy Broadley & Jess turned up later in the day & stayed to cool their feet! David Johnson had a Little Pool Party down Bristol way... Soo Law held one "Up North" Soo plays in The Baybeat Streetband, she sends her love + this message + links to a couple of tunes they played for Gayle. The band friends also send love. If it makes Christian smile and gives Gayle a giggle on her cloud then it's been a success... xxx Just A Closer Walk With Thee and James Bond - Live And Let Die - and then there is the Baybeat Version!!!
