Bridlington Kite Festival - 19-20 May 2018
With the Northern Kite Group, Sewerby Fields, Bridlington, N.Yorkshire YO15 1ER
Gits Attending = Keith + Alan & Anne
It's another Northern Road Trip - Epsom to Bridlington, York, Symonds Yat, Margam Park & Basingstoke

Thursday 17th May - They are on their way!

They've arrived! . . . . Maybe a little early? . . . . Where is everybody?

After a long drive North, what better than a warm welcome at The Ship Inn

Oh hullo - this must be the Old Gits Playground - fully accessible!

Having partaken of Good Yorkshire Tapas, and Good Yorkshire Ale, the Gadabout Gits went wearily to bed...

Friday 18th May - And Lo... It was the Morning of The First Day... (proper parky overnight)

Friday Morning - Git Camp as our hero approaches the end of his early morning rambling, with FEB in prospect

Just time for an almost-panoramic pair of photos...

Then he needed a little rest... Before posing by the Git Banners

More Kiters turned up - Hooray! . . . . Then A bit of South Yorkshire Colour

Then around tea-time, the siren song of a G&T proved irresistible...

Saturday 19th May - Caravan FEB first of all, then get something purple up in the sky (very light wind)

Andrew Beattie put some lovely big stuff up in the sky - and shot a great Drone Video

Sunday 20th May - a bit of a change in the weather... FOG... proper North Sea Pea Souper

11:46am - Famous Last Words - "I do believe it's clearing"

16:04pm - Can you see the kites?

19:38pm - The sea is back!

Nasty Mr. Fog stayed away for about 4 hours, then came back hard and fast!

Monday 21st May - Morrisons Bridlington for FEB and then off to York, for shenanagins tomorrow!

(Extract from Keith's Logbook 21.05.18) ... Well that was exciting... Three firsts today...

1. Missed turning to Ashfield Touring Caravan Park, so sat nav took me on 7 mile trip down single track
roads with passing places, through some lovely little villages, luckily without meeting any milk lorries ☺

2. With Malc's excellent directions, reversed caravan on to pitch perfectly parallel. Feeling quite smug ☺

3. Water pump connector coming loose. Wondered why no water coming out of tap... pump running like mad,
only to find those had disconnected by caravan inlet. Quite a spectacular fountain ☺ Water Hog needed filling again ☹

Yorkshire Sunset - no fog this time!

Tuesday 22nd May - into York, buy a new crutch for Alan (again) - visit a wonderful gin emporium, and then...?

Alan in a Shambles - pedestrians ran for their lives!

Then he stopped off at Bills- not sure if he had lunch there or was ejected for Gittishness!

and then, inevitably, as iron filings drawn to a magnet...

Sad to say the prices were all "top dollar" so they wisely saved their money to spend elsewhere.

(Keith now has a purple dreamcatcher and a number of other goodies to decorate his boudoir)

Lovely to meet up with Maria & James Woods for coffee & cake

Gits Agog...

Gits in ruins...

Back to Ashfield site for tonight, early FEB, wash up, pack up & hit the road for Symonds Yat via the M18, A1, M1, M42, M5, M50, A40

Wednesday 23rd May - Symonds Yat stories & photos here (soon, hopefuly)
GOG Cold Collation this evening at Sterretts Caravan Park HR9 6DA , then gin and a sunset stroll - lovely!

Thursday 24th May - Exploring Monmouth, maybe the Butterfly Zoo, and then Wye Knot Inn in the evening!

Of course it all depends on the weather, which was not kind today
- and then there was a "toilet incident"...eh, Alan?

Luckily, Keith did find a playground... Shame he could not read the sign...

Hooray - they found the Yat Stone!

Last evening meal at Symonds Yat - gave the pub a miss due to the weather

... then on, on to Margam on Friday, Kites on Saturday & sunday, Pirates on Monday, then Basingstoke next weekend!
This story will continue on the Margam page.
