Organiser & main contact = Alan Cosgrove Email: alan(at)basingstokekitefestival.org.uk BBC Weather Link Let All True Gits Assemble Here and Make Merry! 20/03/20145 - update from Alan C: guests confirmed so far: Carl Robertshaw, The Flying Squad, Chris Goff, Team Spectrum, Frances Anderson, Pauline Taylor, Stafford Wallace, Flying Fish, Josh Mitcheson, Patrice & Michèle Peigne, Bruno & Laurence Cocandeau, David Ellison, Sky Bums, Brighton Kite Flyers, of course the Grumpy Old Gits including Christian Baden Powell and Gayle Woodul. Simon Dann and Stephen Hoath on PA. Friday morning - a familiar wet scene outside Asda... and at the checkout! Where is everybody? Friday evening, and the site is strangely quiet... Git Camp is starting to take shape... Aah - that's why it's quiet - they are all off to the clubhouse! Pub Grub and a few beers - lovely - Keith in fine form as usual! Just as well we fuelled up before bedtime - Friday night was pretty nippy! Git Camp abandoned in favour of cocktails with Sandra & Andrew at their caravan After a chilly night, a life-saving cuppa char from Chris Matheson, then Git Brekkers with Buck's Fizz + Sausage and Bacon rolls courtesy of Keith's Cadac - thanks Keith! Yee-Haa! Texas Rebel Yell comes to Basingstoke! And just to be even-handed, we helped Axel get his up! He brought a wonderful array of his artistic kites... I loved that lion! Gayle found some furry friends to play with... Hello - what are they up to? . . . . . . . . . Ahaa! All is revealed - Roy's Sea of Birdies! Saturday morning - time to help (watch) Christian reconstruct Taranis! I still think that scary face looks a lot like somebody nearby, hung over and needing coffee! Saturday night - Taranis watched over us as we fed - some people had SEVERAL helpings! The Gits were delighted to be joined by Axel, Jai and her Hizakite lady friends There were mixed emotions all round when Jai declared this would be her last event as a trader There were some energetic Rok Fights... There was a certain amount of posing... ... and gentlemanly (ahem) debate about "how to fly a kite properly" There were giggles about Git Goggles... "Suits You Sir!" Only after the event did we find that Keith featured in the local newspaper report! Hearty congratulations and thanks to Alan C and his hard-working crew - splendid organisation in the face of fickle (and sometimes non-existant) wind conditions - WELL DONE ALL!
