Left at junction (signed: Malham Tarn) and climb uphill for about 1 mile.
Continue on (slightly) more level ground untill eventually a cattle-grid brings you out onto the open moor. About 300 yds beyond cattle-grid is a cross roads of sorts, bear left then choose your spot!

Parking: Roadside

Nearest public w.c. at National parks information centre in Malham village.

Accessibility: Step out of car, fly kite!(wind and safety permitting of course)

Flying Area: To North and south side of road depending on Wind direction.
The moor stretches away from the road for a good half mile on the North side and nearly as much on the South side although the ground does rise slightly to that side.

Comments: Open moorland with virtually no wind obstructions at all, about 1100 feet above sea level so can get breezes when nothing doing in valley.
Not accessible in winter conditions (but you wouldn't be flying then, would you?).
Too rough for buggies and don't think the National Trust warden would be too amused anyway.
The sheep and cattle who frequent these moors can be a nuisance at times because as you lay out your lines etc. they think you are feeding them and come to investigate.
This is less of a problem in summer as they are not given supplementary feed then and tend to forget very quickly!
It sounds crummy but its a fabulous spot in decent weather with skylarks singing all around and spectacular scenery (and its only 5 minutes from home). :-)

Local Clubs/Contacts: N/A

Nearest Retailer: "What's up" in Skipton about 11 miles from the site
