Flying Area: Large! No idea of the numbers.
Comments: Walsall airport (known locally as Greenacres or T.I.) is suprisingly a former airport so has good open fields with trees around the perimeter.
The grass is kept mown and is actually quite soft and mossy. I've no idea of how much space there is but there are about 6 football pitches on about 1/4 of the site.
One of the beauties of the site is it often deserted, apart from a few people walking dogs which, with the accompanying s**t, is the biggest nuisance.
The prevalling winds blow steady and from a direction that has no real tree screening.
The site is used by model airplanes - too far away to be a problem -, occasional parascending (sp?) and seasonal football and cricket.
There are basic facilities such as toilets but no refreshments on site but there are pubs and shops locally.
It's my favourite site as it is so quiet so don't tell anyone else!
