areas #1 and #2 are separated by a narrow band of trees
areas #2 and #3 run into each other but with a constriction between

Height ASL: 6 metres - CAA Limit: 60 metres (Shoreham airport is approx 6 miles away)

Location: Marine Drive, Ferring, Nr Worthing, West Sussex (areas #1 & #2) and Marine Crescent, Goring, Nr Worthing, West Sussex (area #3).
Marine Drive and Marine Crescent are in fact the same road with a roundabout separating the two halves.
The two roads are along the seafront, separated from the shore itself by grassy areas which form the flying sites.

Directions: Head west from Worthing pier along Marine Parade and West Parade (same road) until you arrive at a roundabout after about 1.5 miles.
Turn right (north), the only direction possible, into George V Avenue then immediately left (west) at a mini roundabout into Eirene Road.
Continue west. Eirene Road becomes Marine Crescent with area #3 on the left hand side. It's a large semi-circular shaped area. Continue to another mini roundabout and carry strait on (well, go round the roundabout) into Marine Drive.
Area #2 is on the left and is a grassy area whch becomes wider as you continue west.
Continue past a row of trees to area #1 which is like a mirror image of area #2.

Alternatively, and probably easier for those approaching from the West or North:
From the A259, Worthing to Littlehampton road, take the roundabout turning (south) to Ferring. Continue over the railway bridge and go strait on at the next roundabout.
Follow the road along over numerous speed humps (I think they slow you down). At the end of the road, area #1 is immediately to the right & area #2 is immediately to the left. Turn left and follow the sea road until you get to a mini roundabout, bear right. Area #3 is to your right.

Parking: Area #1: On the sea road itself or on 3 nameless roads that serve no purpose on the north side of the sea road. These 3 roads form 3 sides of a square with Marine Drive forming the 4th side.
Area #2: As for area #1 or on that part of Marine Drive adjacent to area #2.
Area #3: Signposted car parks south of Marine Crescent. On Marine Crescent itself.

There are residential roads to the north of both areas #2 and #3.

Facilities: Public Convenience between areas #1 and #2 (summer months only).
Public Convenience at west end of area #3 (all year).
Cafe at west end of area #3.
Occasionally snack/ice cream vans at all areas during the summer months.

Accessibility: 15-30 second walk from parking area.

Flying Area: Flat, mown grass in all 3 cases. Prevailing wind is SW.
Area #1: No wind obstructions for all but due eastelies (v rare). Clear to S, N, W.
Area is approximately 500yds x 150yds (narrowing to 30yds for approximately 50yds of its length).
Area #2: Bushes obstruct southerly winds, large trees obstruct westerlies (common) & houses obstruct northerlies. This area is seldom used by either stunt or power kiters.
Slightly smaller in size than area #1 & narrower.
Area #3: Beach huts slightly obstruct southerly winds & houses obstruct northerlies, but there is enough room not to be troubled too much by dirty air. 1.5 to 2 times area of either areas #1 or #2.

The beach is immediately south of all 3 areas.

Area #1 is used mainly by stunt fliers. Buggiers seem to prefer area #3. Few people
use area #2 due to it's poor, turbulent wind. Kite surfers use the sea!

Comments: Most kite flyers use area #1 in my experience due to the better wind conditions, drier ground and fewer people.
Area #1 is a little out of the way and is easily missed by day-trippers :-)

HOWEVER, all 3 areas can be busy during the summer, especially at weekends and on bank holidays. Parking may also be tricky at these times.

A hound from hell called Shep. Like me, he is a bit of a Prism lover. I like flying 'em... he likes chasing and eating 'em.
