Directions: Enter Formby by one of several tunings off the A565. Signposts in Formby are scarce - take a fix on the sun!

Parking: There are two car parks: a National Trust one due W of Freshfield Station, and a cheaper one [£1.25] almost due W of Formby Station.

Facilities: No toilets at the cheaper car park.

Accessibility: Paths across sand dunes from car parks to the beach - 5 mins walk.

Flying Area: Wide beach but with some pools and soft sand left by retreating tide.

Comments: Excellent smooth winds straight off the sea when westerly.
