- here is an extract of a letter from States of Jersey Police, dated 6th November 1996 - signed Trevor Garrett, Superintendent (Operations)

"Article 66 - Air Navigation (Jersey) Order, 1972 - Exemption.
The exemption made by the Harbours and Airports committee, permits kites to be flown on any beach of the Island within 5 kilometres of the airport, exception in the section of the beach of St. Ouen's Bay, between Le Braye Slip and the Watersplash, which approximates to the 09 approach funnel (to the airport), and that the control line shall not be longer than 60 metres and the kite shall not be flown within 60 metres of any vessel, vehicle or structure."

In a Nutshell -
1. You can fly on any beach in Jersey except on the part mentioned in the exemption above - this is on the West coast.

2. If you fly on any part of Jersey other than the beach, ensure you are more than 5 Km from the airport.

3. Wherever you fly, DO NOT - Use lines longer than 60 metres.
DO NOT - Fly within 60 metres of any vessel, vehicle or structure.
DO NOT - Fly so as to risk injury, or fear of injury to the public.
