Site Name: Burt Hill [won't mean anything to anybody as is local council name for the adjacent woods!]
County: Bucks
Nearest Place: High Wycombe (1000 metres S.W. of the railway station)
Also Near: Amersham, Marlow, Princes Risborough, Beaconsfield
OS Grid Ref: SU 860 925 - Landranger: 175 -
Multimap Link
Height ASL: c.100 metres - CAA Limit: 60 metres
Location: Just off the A404 Marlow Hill close to town centre
Directions: From the M40 Junction 4 head into High Wycombe on A404. Straight over next roundabout and as you descend the big hill into High Wycombe take a left turn halfway down the hill into Wordsworth Road. Immediately on the right is Burt Hill park.
Parking: On street parking only. Though space for 10 cars - but rarely that busy.
Facilities: Absolutely none. Though it is a very short walk into town.
Accessibility: Can only turn into Wordsworth Road going down the hill. Queues likely on hill during rush hour
Flying Area: Sloping mown parkland overlooking Wycombe valley. Trees to edges but space for two maybe three kites. The area is only big enough to lay out 50M of line!!! Probably not for buggies (but definitely for toboggans in winter)
Comments: High Wycombe is terrible for wind. One of the carmest places around. The Rye park on the A40 London Road going out of town is only suitable for ultralights or indoor kiting! (hence no site report here) This hill however is the nearest nicest high spot I have found.
