Dieppe Festival de Cerf Volant: 8-16 Septembre 2018
Artistic theme: "Le monde du fantastique"/ "Fantastic World"
(The World of fantasy as in imagination)

UK Gits Attending = Keith, Alan O + Anne, Andrew + Sandra,
Bob + Carole, Roy + Marilyn, Paul M + Helene, Jacqui
International Gits = Trevor Reeves, Dave Butler, Gary Mark, Ralf + Lucas Maserski

Website + Email + Dieppe Webcams

Early start on Thursday morning, meeting up at Newhaven ferry terminal for mandatory DFDS FEB

This was the view from Git HQ in previous years...

The Gits have no plans to rent any apartments this year, as we now have better campers & caravans
- no room for the Git Gazebo, so we will do our carousing in the Gitmobiles!

After they settle in on Thursday afternoon, the GOGs usually hasten to Auchan Hypermarket, and buy
everything they might need for the next few days - about 50/50 edibles/drinkables!

If you expected a sensible photo here, you clearly have no grasp of Git Logic

Who knows where he is? He certainly has no idea! Maybe... "Lost in France"?

Keith.... what do you think you are doing, Keith? Oh dear... Trevor - stop him!

Wait for it...

Thursday night - No surprise that most of the Usual Suspects ended up in the gitmobile...

Friday 7th - Small Hairy One goes walkabout...

Look who Minkey found!

Late arrivals for G & T at Casa Cruikshanks

As if he was not busy already, Gary was seen to be flying this beauty
BEAVER - complete with flags from Canada and New Zealand!

Day 2 - Sunday 9th - Parade Day! Keeping it low key for this year's parade...

The Git Chariot under Starter's Orders... Let's test the KLAXON!

We were very glad to see Jacqui made it, despite her broken leg!
Our thanks go to Derek Kuhn for transporting & looking after her!

On parade... you can see our shiny new klaxon mounted by the rear wheel of the Git Chariot
Roy Martin brought a little furry friend... I hope the French kids were not too scared!

We hope the parents of little French kids were not too annoyed by the 80 referee whistles we gave out!

Sincere thanks to the Gits who worked so hard to distribute all those "petits cadeaux pour nos amis"

New kite Sandra painted, ready to fly at Dieppe!

Gary Mark had a beautiful new circoflex made by Leong Chee Wan

The Git Chariot did the rounds and was a magnet for those vital "Selfies"

The German Tent was a lively place!

There was a fantastic sunset...

Monday evening - time to tame The Beast!

Later... it all seems strangely quiet... maybe The Beast was too strong?

Day 4 - Tuesday 11th - Sandra spent a very enjoyable afternoon watching George Peters
sketching with bamboo before moving on to making beautiful little paper kites

It was great to see one kite master learning from another!

Then somebody got led astray by a strawberry tarte...

of course, there was another glorious sunset...

Day 5 - Wednesday 12th - Oh dear... another tough choice at lunchtime...

Dick Toonen has done a photo album just for today - CLICK HERE

So, they actualy got around to flying kites as well as drinking G&T!

It was great to see Dave out there joining in the fun...

It must have been emotional to fly this one, made for him by Ron Bohart

Dave - our hearts go out to you

No problem choosing beers that evening!!!

Day 6 - Thursday 13th - Nice to see a wall of 48 Twisted Drumboxes - hope they flew OK?

This is going to take a well co-ordinated effort by a lot of people...
Top row goes first, then 2nd row, and bottom row last of all!

What could possibly go wrong?

Hello to Jill Ferrer, Trevor Reeves (in disguise) and Jacqui

Drumbox Photo Albums:- Pascal Nauleau

Andrew & Sandra's Flying Cats looked pretty!

Oh dear - so many kites, so many people, and that small space...

Our good friend Jan van Leeuwen has posted a FB photo album of beautiful kites in the air CLICK HERE

Alexa You are an angel. We love you

And we know how to enjoy good gin - with good food and good friends!

So the general rule of thumb is G&T and/or wine and/or beer during the meal...

then Limoncello as a "digestive" after the meal...

Friday evening - George Peters directs the final banquet's big red balloon!

But later that night - some serious thieving occurred - Dick Toonen needs your help
On the night of Friday 14 September, at the Dieppe kite festival someone stole two bags from his car
- a smaller bag with modelling balloons and a bigger bag with 32 of his Drumboxes.

Most of them have a distinctive green central connector.

The Police are informed, but don't think we'll find them. His car was locked, but his key code was hacked.
If you know, or see something thank you for contacting Dieppe police - Phone +33 2 32 14 49 00

Keith said:- I met this little group, whilst flying my Nick James Purple angel in the arena,
I offered them a fly, which they gratefully accepted
Then bumped into them two more times during the day, lovely people.
